Part 2: What can we do to protect ourselves from EMR?

This is Part 2 of a two part blog article on EMRs (see Part 1: EMR and your health).
Now that we recognize that Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) in our environment may be a concern, what can we do to reduce the harm and improve our health?
Cell Phones
– Limit the time spent on your cell phone – use the speaker phone function to keep the strongest signals away from your body.
– Keep your phone in your purse, bag, or jacket whenever possible.
– Try to keep your phone out of your clothes pockets.
– Do not tuck your phone in your bra.
Home WiFi
– Have your WiFi router located away from areas where you spend a lot of time,
– Especially in the bedroom.
– Watch out for unintentional exposures, as WiFi signals easily pass through walls.
– When possible, use a wired internet connection rather than WiFi.
– Turn the WiFi off at night.
– Never use a laptop computer on your lap!
In the Home
– Keep electrical devices at least one meter away from your bed. A battery powered alarm clock is a good idea.
– Avoid the use of electric blankets and heating pads while you sleep and avoid water beds.
– If you choose to use wireless devices, charge them away from your sleeping area.
– Avoid fluorescent lighting, including compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) that have replaced traditional incandescent bulbs. Use LED bulbs instead.Keep electrical devices at least one meter away from your bed. A battery powered alarm clock is a good idea.
For more specific determination of the source and effect of EMR in your home, you can arrange for an EMR Inspection. There are trained companies and individuals in cities around the world that can help you create a safer, healthier space for you and your family.
