“Our bodies are our gardens. Our will is the gardener.” A healthy body and healthy mind begets each other, and in the face of illness, you have to work really hard at each one.”
I developed a great passion for the field of oncology while I was a medical student participating in an integrative cancer care internship. What sparked this passion was witnessing the tremendous improvements in my patients’ health after the addition of naturopathic treatments into their health regimen. Even after so many years of practice, I am still awed by the profound improvements people experience.
Improvements in diagnosis and treatment means there are more people living longer with cancer. The health care system is shifting towards chronic management of this disease, and there is a great need for more health care services. A naturopathic doctor well versed in cancer care is a vital component of a comprehensive, patient-centred approach to health care that spans prevention through treatment, and into survivorship.
To balance by work life, my home life is where you will find me soaking up the memories with my two kids, spending as much time in the mountains as we can, hiking, biking, gardening and cooking.
