Abdominal Therapy/Mayan Abdominal Massage

Dr. Kate Hadfield is excited to offer a new service in her practice, Abdominal Therapy, also known as Mayan Abdominal Massage.

What is Abdominal Therapy?

Abdominal Therapy, also known as Mayan Abdominal Massage, is a hands-on technique developed by teachers Rosita Arvigo and Don Elijio designed to improve the health of your abdominal and pelvic organs.

What does Abdominal Therapy help?

This therapy can be useful for fertility support, painful periods, digestive problems, chronic back and sacral issues, optimal uterus position, bladder health and pelvic concerns.

What to expect in an Abdominal Therapy session?

This technique is an external massage of your entire abdomen, back, hips and sacrum. There is no internal vaginal work with abdominal therapy.

Dr. Kate offers these sessions in the following manner:

Initial 60min consult – modified health intake followed by an anterior treatment of just the abdomen

After this initial session, you may choose either:

-Follow-up 60min consult – entire treatment of the anterior abdomen and posterior lower back and sacrum

-Follow-up 45min consult – only the anterior treatment of the abdomen OR the posterior treatment of the sacrum

What to expect after an Abdominal Therapy session?

One of the beautiful teachings of abdominal therapy is called Your Abdominal Massage or YAM. After your initial session, Dr. Kate will show you how to perform abdominal massage on your own abdomen at home. As an additional offering, she will also be hosting seasonal YAM group sessions exclusively for existing clients where you can meet in community, learn further YAM techniques and relax with some nourishing goodies.
