Recipes for Energy and Strength

Staying strong and healthy during self isolation comes down to providing good nutrients to your body. The saying “You are what you eat” really rings true – if you feed your body crap, we expect it to feel like crap. However, nourishing your body with a diet full of vitamins, minerals, fats and protein can keep your organs optimally functioning and resilient to viruses, bacteria and stress.  With less temptation to eat out and more opportunities to make delicious food at home, many of our patients are even choosing to take control of their health and doing a 21 day detoxification program – more on that in Week 4 of our April Action Plan!  For now, here are some great recipes to keep your energy high and your body strong!

Chocolate Coconut Energy Balls – Dr. Patti & Dr. Colin’s Recipe Collection

We love making these for our family for a quick pick-me-up snack, especially for a mid-afternoon snack. Full of protein, healthy fats and low-glycemic carbs, they are easy to make and fun to eat!

Miso-Dipped Tempeh Logs – Vive Health Recipe Book

Another family favourite, these tempeh logs are high in protein and go well in wraps, salads or on their own.

Power Bowls – Oh She Glows

What’s a better way to support the body’s energy than with Power Bowls!  This recipe is quite versatile and is easy to assemble.  It’s also a nice way to incorporate many different veggies from all the colours of the rainbow!
